The SK2XC5 is our SK2XC cable shifter, built for the GM (Chevy) version of the NP231 transfer case — the NP231C. If your Jeep XJ Cherokee or TJ Wrangler is running a 231C that came from a GM truck or SUV, the standard Jeep shifter linkages won't line up with it. This kit gives you a smooth, precise cable shift while keeping your factory Jeep shift handle.

The kit uses the same aircraft-grade control cable and hardware as our proven SK2XC, with a transfer case anchor bracket made specifically for the NP231C's five-bolt pattern.

Which NP231 Do I Have?

The NP231 was built in two main versions:

• NP231J (Jeep) — the factory Jeep case, with the Jeep six-bolt front pattern. Use the SK2XC cable shifter or the SK2X direct linkage.
• NP231C (GM / Chevy) — the version used behind GM transmissions, with a five-bolt front pattern and a different input spline. Use the SK2XC5 on this page, or the SK2X5 direct linkage for Jeeps without a factory shift handle (YJ, CJ and other conversions).

Installation Requirements

Installation is straightforward with basic hand tools. Skid plate removal may be required, but the shifter itself installs easily. Clear instructions are included. The SK2XC install video below shows how the cable shifter goes in — the SK2XC5 installs the same way, with its own NP231C anchor bracket.
