    The Jeep & IH Dana Spicer 18 is still one of the most respected transfer cases on the trail. Professional level repair, assembly and upgrade work is possible for the conscientious DIY builder.

    In addition to our master rebuild kits, we offer nearly all parts at the component level, as well as several upgrade part options.

    These kits fit all Jeep Dana 18 Transfer cases and most IH Dana 18 transfer cases.

    The Master Rebuild Kit

    Our master rebuild kit has been assembled for our customer's rebuilds as well as our own. It is the most complete kit we've seen anywhere and features all the consumable and wear item components. Our kits include the basics offered by other sources, but many additional items, comprising:



    Kit 18MR-1, master rebuild, Dana Spicer Model 18 transfer case, 3/4” intermediate shaft version

    18MR-1;18MR-2;18MR-3

    Our exclusive intermediate shafts are made at Novak from an alloy gear steel and case-hardened to exceptional hardness and have o-ring grooves at both ends, assuring a better seal than factory; extra o-rings are also included.

    There are three master rebuild kits available; one for each of the three major generations of the Model 18.

    Installation Requirements

    It is very common for our customers to do top-level rebuild work, using good methods and by following our included instruction guide. We suggest the rebuilder have access to a set of snap ring pliers, and a small arbor press, in addition to standard shop tools. The full rebuild procedure is covered here.

    The Intermediate Shaft Kits

    These kits are a reduced version of our Master Kits. They contain the specially hardened intermediate shaft, O-rings, thrust washers, bearings and snap ring.

    This extended capacity, anodized billet aluminum bottom pan solves a few Dana transfer case dilemmas:

    Dana 18 PTO Port Cover

    Cover, PTO port, Dana 18 transfer case, aluminum, black anodized

    Utility meets eye-candy. But, go ahead and get it muddy if you'd like.

    After seeing the difficulty of finding Dana 18 PTO covers, we added this one to our line-up. It's made from 3/16" thick aluminum (great for heat dissipation), media tumbled and anodized black. We follow up with a little engraving. Because of its rigidity, it will seal better than factory PTO cover.

    There's not a better gaskets and seals kit available. The pan gasket itself (otherwise the most prone to leaking) is cut from a rubber-cork compound.

    Not only are factory Dana 18 tailhousings in short supply, but they're not all that great when they are available. After building more than a thousand Dana 18's, we've reimagined this crucial part of them with a 9-way o-ring sealing design and internal shimming scheme that does away with the external, leak-prone shim packs. They are then finished in gunmetal gray anodizing. We improved everything and these are now the tailhousing of choice for every Dana 18 we build in-house.

    Our Dana 18 is professionally and meticulously rebuilt. We use the best components, including bearings, bushings, seals and gaskets built by our Dana 18 specialists and experts. All known updates and improvements are performed. Put the experience of thousands of Dana transfer case rebuilds to work for your Jeep.

    Because of the variations involved and shipping options available, we encourage you to contact us directly by phone or e-mail. We will help you put together the transfer case which best fits your requirements.

    Note that we can supply a core Dana 18 or we can arrange to have yours sent in with a core credit of $400. Transfer cases are built to order and typically take 1-3 weeks to ship. Contact us for current build times. Costs range from $1,667. to $1,795. depending on your configuration, ranging from standard versions without emergency brake to "Super 18" (Dana 18 with a Dana 20 case) with emergency brake, etc.

    Logistics

    your transfer case package is palleted and wrapped (if trucking is required) or packaged in a double-wall box (if by parcel), fully insured and ready to bolt into your application. Novak will seek the best competitive shipping rates with our extensive trucking networks. It will arrive at a location of your choosing, though we strongly recommend a business location with a dock / forklift for delivery (if trucking), as residential and liftgate fees can add up to an extra $100. per delivery.
