Novak hydraulic clutch retrofits, slave cylinders, braided clutch lines and Jeep YJ clutch master cylinders all run on DOT 3 brake fluid. One 12 oz bottle fills and bleeds a typical system, with some left over for topping off.

Tips for a Clean Fill

• Start with a fresh, sealed bottle. DOT 3 absorbs moisture from the air once it's open, and that water lowers its boiling point and causes internal corrosion.
• Don't mix in DOT 5. DOT 5 is silicone-based and doesn't mix with DOT 3. DOT 4 is compatible if that's what you have, but stick with one fluid.
• Mind your paint. Brake fluid strips paint. Wipe up drips right away with water.
• Bleed until it runs clear. Keep the reservoir topped up while bleeding so you never pull air back into the system.
