GM V6 Conversion Radiator
for
Early CJ's, 1946-1971

K-ECJ11S

Our #K-ECJ11S is a high-performance conversion radiator, ideal for GM V6 engines installations into Early CJ Jeeps (1946-1971) that had the L134 / F134 or Buick V6 engines.

This aluminum radiator features two, one-inch rows and a down flow design. Included are two adjustable side brackets for the installer to achieve optimum depth, height and offset adjustment for their particular installation.

The radiator is equipped with a small transmission oil cooler. However, we typically recommend cooling your transmission with a separate cooler. See Related Products, below, and note that the oil cooler in the radiator could be used for engine oil cooling as well.

Coolant & Water Wetter

Your Novak radiator is aluminum, and the coolant needs to suit the radiator — not the cast-iron radiator your donor engine may have originally run behind. We recommend Zerex™ G05, a HOAT (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology) antifreeze that protects aluminum while staying safe on any iron or copper parts elsewhere in your cooling system. It comes premixed 50/50, so there’s no diluting a concentrate or guessing a ratio.

Red Line Water Wetter is a surfactant additive that reduces the surface tension of the coolant, letting it make better contact with the metal in your radiator and engine for improved heat transfer. It’s an inexpensive upgrade for a Jeep that works hard at low speed or off-road.

Both can be added to your radiator order with the dropdowns above, along with our polished stainless overflow tank.

Fans

These radiators can be used with mechanical or electrical fans. Mechanical fans will require that a shroud be fabricated to match the position of your engine fan. Electric fans are strongly recommended for ease. We recommend our #FX3300-EC fan and shroud kit, in Related Products, below.

Installation Requirements

Typical mechanics hand tools are required along with the appropriate hoses, clamps and coolant required with a normal radiator swap. After installing this upgrade radiator, we recommend that the installer should verify fan-to-radiator clearance and engine mount integrity before operating the Jeep.

Tubular style crossmembers will have to be modified or, better, replaced when doing a Chevy Small Block V8 or GM Gen. III+ V8 installation. The installer may already be performing this operation for radiator, steering or strength purposes. V6 and shortened V8 installations do not require this step for the sake of the engine, but the conversion radiator will probably require the removal of the crossmember. The use of box steel tubing, welded into the frame channels, makes for the cleanest and easiest upgrade. It is also possible to make it such that the steering shaft (on Saginaw steering converted Jeeps) pass through a drilled hole in this crossmember.

Radiator Warranty Policy

Our radiators come with a 1-year / 100% warranty for defects in materials or workmanship, which is prorated and Novak will cover the cost as follows:

The above does not include incoming shipping of your radiator to Novak.

All prorated coverage above is measured from the original purchase date of the radiator, and a warranty replacement does not reset that date. If a replacement radiator is sent out 1.5 years after your original purchase and that replacement fails a year later, coverage is based on 2.5 years from the original purchase (75%) — not on the 1 year since the replacement (100%).

Coverage can be denied if it is determined that:
