GM Gen III / Gen IV controllers for Jeep conversions
Proper PCM programming is one of the keys to a clean, reliable GM engine swap. Novak offers conversion-focused programming support for GM Gen III and GM Gen IV PCMs commonly used with LS and Vortec engines. We can configure speed inputs, fan control, transmission settings, and other conversion details so the drivetrain operates correctly in your Jeep application. Every PCM is Sand blasted, clear coated and labeled with appropriate vehicle information.

What We Program
GM Gen III PCM
Typical applications include 1999–2007 LS / Vortec MP59 controllers.
GM Gen IV PCM
Typical applications include 2008–2014 Gen IV-era E38 and E40 controllers.
Common Conversion Programming Items
- VATS Disable: When swapping engines, the PCM will need the Vehicle Anti Theft Security disabled to allow the engine to run.
- Vehicle Speed Input (VSS): configure the PCM to accept the correct speed signal for proper drivability and transmission behavior (if applicable).
- Cooling Fan Control: Standard Fan settings are adjusted to come on at 210°F and off at 200°F
- Transmission Configuration:Setting the correct Automatic or Manual Transmission
- Diagnostic & MIL Behavior: Turning off unused Diagnostic codes to prevent CEL
- Idle / Startup Behavior: refine idle targets and startup behavior as needed for engine swap configurations.
- Emissions Options: enabling or disabling emissions.
- VIN Reassign: We can reassign your VIN if special requested.
Identifying Your PCM
GM PCMs come in several common housings. Matching the PCM and harness/engine family is critical.
The early Gen III PCM, 1997 to 1998
The late Gen III PCM, 1999 to mid-2007
The Gen IV PCM w/transmission controller, 2005-2020
If your PCM and harness/engine components were not pulled from the same donor, confirm compatibility before proceeding. Intermixing PCMs and harnesses can yield unexpected results.
