We are excited to share a new drivetrain upgrade we have been working on for the AX15: the AX15 4.31:1 Low First Gear Conversion Set.
The Jeep AX15 is a solid, proven transmission, but in a lot of real world builds, especially heavier rigs, bigger tires, towing setups, and technical trail use, the factory 3.83:1 first gear can feel taller than you would like. This new gear set drops first gear to 4.31:1, which gives you better torque multiplication and much better control at low speeds.
What this upgrade delivers
Lower first gear: 4.31:1 vs the stock 3.83:1
Better crawl ratio for rock crawling and technical terrain
Smoother takeoffs with less clutch slip, especially on hills
Reduced clutch wear in heavy or high load use
Better throttle control when creeping through obstacles
This is not an external add on or a workaround. It is a true internal gear change designed to install cleanly during an AX15 rebuild or overhaul. The end result is a transmission that feels more controlled and better matched to larger tire sizes and heavier vehicle setups.

The AX15 4.31:1 Low First Gear Conversion is currently available for pre order. Estimated ship date is April 2026.
