SM465 2wd

I have a SM465 in the shop being rebuilt.

And the builder has told me that it is a 2 wheel drive transmission. I am putting it in a 1986 cj7 with a 5.7 liter vortex. My question is the adapter kit that you guys sell. Does it matter if the transmission is 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?

Still using the dana 300 transfer case

Hi, with our 463-23 kit which I'll link below. It doesn't matter whether it's 2wd or 4wd. This kit will come with a new mainshaft and the adapter goes where your 2wd tailhousing is now.

Now with the new mainshaft you'll want to have the shop that's rebuilding your SM465 put in the new mainshaft while they still have it apart doing the rebuild. And hopefully it's not too late.

Agreed. If they already have the transmission open and are doing a rebuilt, our mainshaft version kit is smart for time and money.
