Jeep T18 to NP 229 Positioning

Hello. I am converting an Automatic to a Manual. To save save me from swapping axles i opted to keep my NP 229 transfer case

This is for a 1985 Jeep J10. It has an AMC 360 long wheelbase.

I got a T18 out of a 1979 J20, and got the mainshaft changed out to mate to the NP229.

My question is, how high should the T18 sit vertically on the truck? Also whats the best way of mounting the trans support since the original mounting will not work? I was going to cut out part of the crossmember or extend it with 1/8 steel. T18 is 5" longer than the 727 I had in there.

I will add photos of how I currently have it sitting.

KevinHoffner The height of the T18 shifter housing looks good. I think the rearward degree tilt of the engine would be more important than the shifter housing protrusion. There should be (ideally) a 4 degree rearward tilt of the engine present. That would be more of a factor of where the rear mount ends up to retain that tilt. Some crossmember fabrication/modification or placement may be needed. Always keep in mind that should be a heavy duty mounting area. Not going light on the strength of the steel being used. It is an area of important mounting.

How does this look? I utilized the same thickness of steel as the stock mount. I added some 90° supports to the vertical steel on the crossmember. Also adding more 90° triangles to the inside. Checked my engine angle and its right at 4°
