I request your expertise on my T98A. It has a chatter which occurs in fourth gear only, and only while no-load coasting. The chatter disappears when accelerating and when letting your foot all the way off the gas. While no load coasting, it is noticeable. I will attach a video of the noise. If you wiggle the shift lever while the chatter is occurring, the pitch changes, but the chatter does not disappear. I recently replaced the input shaft bearing and the pilot needle bearings between the input output shafts, but that did little to help the chatter. While the transmission was out, I did a visual inspection of all the gears, and they looked to be in really good shape. However, I’ve never rebuilt a transmission before, so something could have escaped my notice. Lastly, the chatter is affected by bumps and jostling of the road. Any expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Sorry, but I tried to upload the 14 second video by my iphone as well as my PC, but the website can't upload anything over 2 meg, which means I can't upload ANY video. I tried uploading just the audio, but it won't allow me to upload that file type. We'll just have to go with my description above. Thanks!
